Last week we made the long trip to Northumberland and provided a keynote speech at the @nlandcc virtual school conference.
We presented on “Relationships and Language that cares” to professionals from social care, early help and schools from the area”
We were able to weave stories, strategies and inspiration from:
– Our childhood in care / lived experience (feeling how others connected and what they wrote about us as children)
– Our joint 50 + years working in social care / youth work / community projects / schools – what has worked for us as we connect & engage from the heart
– 8 years of Smash Life – leading, connecting, writing, listening to what children tell us and observing practice in our day to day SEMH support in schools / places of education
We wanted to be honest, raw, motivating and ensure everyone left not full of theory BUT full of motivation to ensure EVERY child they connect with or care for feels a sense of care, belonging and that someone values and believes in them.
As always it was brilliant to catch up with our friend Luke from the care leaders – we can’t wait for the Care Leaders Summit
Northumberland thanks for having us and thanks for the lovely welcome and care we received with you
