Matt &  Andy Smith will be hosting the National Children Homes Award Ceremony in Birmingham later this year as part of the CHA 2026 Conference.
A huge thank you to Mark and the team at the Children’s Homes Association for inviting us to be part of such an important event. We genuinely can’t wait to bring a little bit of that Smash Life energy to the evening!
For us, this isn’t just another event. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the incredible people working across children’s homes who show up every single day for young people who need care, stability, love and belief in their futures.
The care sector can often find itself in the headlines for the wrong reasons, which is why evenings like this matter so much. They give us a chance to recognise the outstanding practice, dedication and commitment that exists across the sector and the life changing difference that so many professionals make.
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Matt’s band Sonic Boom has also been invited to perform at a Virtual School Awards event in London in a few weeks on the back of our evening performance at the NAVSH conference in March.
When you see care experienced young people on Tik Tok saying they don’t see enough real life examples of care experienced adults who have gone on to thrive it’s great to know some professionals are thinking outside the box to address this issue! I can’t wait to deliver a short keynote to inspire them all!
Giving young people the opportunity to see care experienced adults standing on a stage, sharing their stories and performing is powerful. It sends a simple message:
Your start in life does not have to define your destination.
I am also really looking forward to watching the young people perform themselves, alongside the amazing Care To Dance. Their talent, courage and confidence deserve to be celebrated just as much as any award.
The best events in our sector don’t just recognise achievement.
They create hope.
They inspire possibility.
And they remind young people that there are people rooting for them every step of the way.
Here’s to celebrating great practice, amazing people and the incredible potential of the children and young people we serve.
See you in London & Birmingham!
