Last week Matt travelled to Barnsley and delivered to over 100 professionals at Barnsley Council social care staff development forum.
The theme was Language, the words professionals use, how they write, record why it matters, how things are recorded & how it feels from a care experienced professional reflecting on what was said & written in our files – it becomes your internal voice…
Matt was able to make the session fun, engaging, thought provoking and stimulate conversations and discussions around how we record, write, talk and how this can shape further interactions, other professionals thinking but more importantly imagine being a child in care reading and reflecting what others say / write about you.
This is why the work we do is so powerful, some may consider a report “just a report” to complete but this can be a chance to really help a child feel seen, cared for, loved and that other people see the potential in them / when they may not see it themselves – from our care experience we remember everything that was said / written and hold on to the fleeting positive things recorded…always remember “we can notice / record a positive in EVERYONE
Matt really enjoyed his time in Barnsley , he felt welcomed and loved the conversations and interaction – Thank you BARNSLEY – keep “leading from the heart”
