Smash Life
On Monday Matt & Andy had the pleasure of delivering a full days training for social care practitioners, early help, social workers, and student social workers as part of practice week for Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council social care
What an AWESOME day we had!
From fun activities to help professionals understand and relate to children in care to open and honest conversations which were extremely reflective and enriching to help professionals understand the importance of vulnerability and building relationships with children.
As always we took the Smash Life energy and child centred care and it was lovely to interact, listen and learn from such a warm and friendly group.
We always say the welcome we receive is also important – we want to feel welcome just like the children we support do and we want to feel that everyone is focussed and ready to learn and be on a journey together – the welcome we received and care throughout the day was brilliant and we really appreciate it
We always ask at the start “please challenge and offer your perspective if you don’t agree” – we don’t know it all and we sometimes see in meetings there are so many things that can / should be said but we feel due to the power dynamics and “ego” some people don’t get that chance – we want to encourage professionals to be more confident – everyone’s voice matters – after all we are advocating and caring for in so many cases the “voiceless”
A huge thank you to The Practice manager Amanda Baxtrem for inviting and looking after us – Amanda is someone who we have been liaising with for many months planning and ensuring this was delivered in line with the councils ethos and previous messages / training from so many other great professionals
We hope everyone felt more confident, felt rejuvenated and inspired to “Be the best they can be” when caring for some of the most amazing children who simply didn’t ask to be born and be in care – Let’s ALWAYS notice the strengths because they’re are SO many.
